R House, Inc residential services is located in Santa Rosa, California in the heart the the Redwood Empire. R House was founded in 1975 to serve young men with chemical dependencies. Since that time, the program has evolved to serve adolescents with chemical addictions and severe mental health issues. R House now helps boys and girls between the ages of 12 to 18. The program works to expand the children's knowledge in the affects of abusing alcohol and drugs, help to resolve the family issues, emotional problems, and mental health concerns that prevent them from being successful in their interpersonal relationships and adapting to norms and values of society. R House has incorporated their own non-public school to address the academic problems that the young adolescents are presenting. The school provides the opportunity to gain confidence in their scholastic abilities and achievements.
The nine to 12 month residential program includes group therapy, one-to-one counseling, and a strong emphasis on family therapy. The residents are introduced to alternative ways to make them feel good, such as: white-water rafting, snow skiing, horseback riding, bicycling, and becoming part of organized sports. The children are exposed to a number of different types of challenge courses, such as the rope course and team building activities.

The recent trend in our population has been for clients to stay longer than 12 months, as well as, past their 18th birthday. R House has addressed this by adding two transitional living houses that focus on vocational training, employment, financial management, and exploring continued education at Santa Rosa Junior College.
